Brenner back with a vengeance

Before stepping into the spotlight himself, comedian David Brenner enjoyed a successful career behind the camera as the writer/producer/director of 115 television documentaries.

When he moved from behind the camera to the front of the camera, Brenner became best known for his guest-hosting and his appearances on "The Tonight Show," as well as his own show "Nightlife."

In 1989, Brenner starred in his own one-man show on Broadway. "The Laughs and Times of David Brenner" was a two-hour show that took the audience from Brenner's birth, right up to the moment he stepped on stage for each show. The show was a big success with both audiences and critics.

Brenner has starred in his own HBO specials including "David Brenner: Live and Dangerous," which was broadcast from The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in 2000. "David Brenner: Back With A Vengeance," was another HBO hit in 2000 and as a result of the special, Brenner starred in a 48-week engagement at the Golden Nugget Hotel/Casino.
