Olio, 891-7775
Olio! at MGM Grand was brought to town by New York restaurateur John Tunney III, who wanted a restaurant that
"is worthy of the entertainment capital of the world."
Most critics agree he has succeeded. Starting with the 100-foot-long tiger wood entrance that transforms guests from spectators to
participants, Olio! has something for everyone: a 40-foot-long antipasto table; a cocktail lounge with an open fireplace and Internet access; and a private screening room for one of the most high-tech
audio/visual/culinary experiences to be found.
Olio! is a super cool, hip place because of its gelato bar that features "Barbarella"-like characters
serving up the tasty treats. The adjoining bar features electronically controlled music and video screens, plus "dancing flames" from the fire sand pits. Patrons can take center stage in a
private studio/screening room that doubles as a banquet room. It has a karaoke-like interaction, though don't worry—it is not actually karaoke in a sing-along sense. It lets the patrons become
broadcasters; at least within the limited environment of the screening room.
Where Neo-Italian cuisine plays a starring role on a kaleidoscope stage. Where the celebrated culinary talents
of executive chef John Cahill mix with the eclectic, colorful imagination of creator and co-owner John Tunney III. Where dessert is off the wall (literally) and the antipasto table is nearly off the
charts. Olio! redefines an indefinable dining experience
